For over a decade, Januarie York has been carving her own lane in poetry, writing and performance art. Januarie is a freelance writer, published author & poet who, in addition to performing original poetry, has produced several of her own spoken word theatrical shows that focus on uplifting and inspiring women. A recent graduate with her Bachelor's in Criminal Justice, she is currently pursuing her Master's in Positive Psychology.
Januarie has released two spoken word albums, one chapbook of poetry, runs an online magazine publication called, "LiT Magazine" and currently operates her own blog, "The I Is Never Silent". She has also acted in several plays including "Wizer of Oz" and "For Colored Girls Only, for which she wrote two original works for. She resides in Indianapolis, IN, where in addition to curating poetry shows, she has created several community healing events and works with the 46208-based organization "The Learning Tree." She has worked with the Asante Children's Theater, Eskenazi Hospital, IU Health, Visit Indy, Indianapolis Central Library and the Fair Housing Act of Indiana to name a few. She is currently putting the final preparation on her first full-length book, "NOMAD", set for Fall 2019.
